“There would be no happy ending for us. He was too damaged. I was too broken.”

Two years ago, Lorrie’s mother was murdered. But that wasn’t the end of it. Reeling from the tragedy, Lorrie’s father spiraled into alcohol, depression, and finally suicide.

The two most important people in Lorrie’s life are both gone but she’s still alive.

Trying to recover from the tragedy, Lorrie returns to campus, ready to pick up the pieces of her life. All Lorrie wants is to get back to “normal.”

Then she meets Hunter. The man, the legend, “the Hammer.”

Hunter is a cage fighter who takes on every fight like he’s got nothing to lose. His life is a tangled mess of girls, booze, and fist fights. And while it may seem like he’s got a devil-may-care attitude, he’s fighting a private cage-match with a monster he can’t defeat.

Lorrie knows that Hunter is the exact type of guy she should stay away from, especially in her fragile state, but Hunter has other ideas.

As Hunter and Lorrie grow closer together, will they be able to overcome their pain and heal each other? Or will they both end up wrecked?

“There would be no happy ending for us. He was too damaged. I was too broken”

What can I say, I loved this story. It is a typical boy meets girl love story with lots of twists. Lorrie is a student at a small college and her mother was brutally murdered. Of course this makes her the subject of a lot of gossip. This makes her very protective of herself and her heart. So when she meets Hunter she definitely has her guard up. He is a tattooed MMA fighter and although he is everything she wants she knows he bad news for her. The last thing she wants is to give people another reason to talk about her. She tries to fight her feelings for Hunter as long as she can, but hey a girl can only do so much.

I really enjoyed that this story let them take time to get to know each other before they jumped in to it. It was much more realistic than he saw her once and he had to have her all the time. Also all of the twists and forks in the road made the story that much more interesting. It did not take me long to identify with Lorrie an I lost a parent at a young age. Her wanting to turn off all of her emotions and feel nothing is completely relatable.

The last third of this book moves like a runaway freight train. I literally could not put it down and there were may OMG moments. Ms. West certainly did her job of making us want more. The ending does not have everything all tied up with a bow, it is a huge cliffhanger that has you screaming to get your hands on the next book!

4.5 Stars! Grab a cold beer (they are in college) and enjoy!

I would like to thank the author, Priscilla West, for providing an advance copy of this book. I truly cannot wait for Rescued!
