The perfect family. The perfect house. The perfect life. All gone now.

What could cause a man, when all the stars of fortune are shining upon him, to suddenly snap and destroy everything he has built? This is the question that haunts Sergeant Ryan DeMarco after the wife and children of beloved college professor and bestselling author Thomas Huston are found slaughtered in their home. Huston himself has disappeared and so is immediately cast as the prime suspect.

DeMarco knows―or thinks he knows―that Huston couldn't have been capable of murdering his family. But if Huston is innocent, why is he on the run? And does the half-finished manuscript he left behind contain clues to the mystery of his family's killer?

A masterful new thriller by acclaimed author Randall Silvis, Two Days Gone is a taut, suspenseful story that will will break your heart as much as it will haunt your dreams.

I just could not help be roped in, from the moment I read the description.  Whole family murdered is quite the attention grabber.  Then Randall Silvis writes a magnificent picture perfect family man, leaving you shocked that this could be the scenario.  So like the detective on the case, who just happens to know the family man/ author/accused murderer, I went on hoping for any other possible leads.  The author gives plenty of possibilities to follow up on, many surprises, but it’s not looking good for the good guy.  All evidence leads right to the family man.  As we all know, looks can be deceiving.

This was great research and dedication to the story, by the author.  Story plays out very well, leaving you hooked for the next page.  The multiple leads the detective follows all have you curious about each of the characters role in the story playing out before you.   Beautiful writing and reference to Edgar Allan Poe and other literary icons Was very satisfied with the ending. Not at all what I was expecting. As the author writes a different version of the family man, his truths come out very flawed in appearance,  leaves you concerned for a sinister revelation.

4 stars and pair it with a Whiskey Sling!
