The ABC's of Dee Book Cover The ABC's of Dee
Michelle Bannister

It always starts out so innocent. A drink, a laugh, a bet. For 40-year-old Dee Harper, her hum-drum life is about to become...educated.

When Dee’s wealthy friend, Gail, makes her a ridiculous bet, she never dreams she'll actually go through with it. After all, dating 26 men in one year, from A-Z, is ludicrous. Right? Then Gail offers her fifty thousand dollars if she succeeds. Now that is an offer she can't refuse.

From Adam the cocky limo driver to Kevin the klepto Dee learns the hard way what sort of guy she doesn't want.

Filled to the brim with snark and sarcasm about the joys of dating 'later in life,' The ABC's of Dee reminds us that even though life sometimes sucks, there is always someone there to laugh with.

I had the pleasure of meeting Danielle Bannister at Penned Con a few weeks ago. She was funny and personable and as I read the back cover other book, I just knew that I had to read it. Sooo glad that I did.

“Where ever this is headed, it’s not going to end well, but you can’t stop a train wreck already in motion. All I can do now is enjoy the last moment before the crash. And it will crash. They always do.”

This book was funny and engaging from the first page. I loved being inside Dee’s head as she navigated her hilarious dating adventures. She was honest with herself almost to a fault, but her ongoing inner commentary was refreshing and relatable.  We as women are sometimes our own worst critics. Her friendship with Gail was definitely a highlight throughout the story. Their relationship felt real and they definitely both needed each other equally for different reasons. While Gail gets to date vicariously through Dee, so does the reader. The fact is that there are a lot of strange people out there and better for Dee to sort through them than any of us!

I found myself laughing out loud several times and before I knew it I was almost through the entire book. Things definitely took an unexpected turn at the end and I realized that this book was much more than a snarky rom-com. My heart was ripped out. No worries though because things work out in their own way in the end. I found myself thinking about Dee’s story for days after I finished and I just kept liking it more and more. I could see this being a perfect summer rom-com movie!

This book is absolutely at the top of my beach reads list as it’s fast moving and could be read in one sitting (which I may have done!) I am looking forward to reading more of Danielle’s books.

5 stars and nice bottle of Chardonnay! Enjoy!
