I received this book for free from the author or publisher in exchange for an honest review. This does not affect my opinion of the book or the content of my review.
This second book in the Devil’s Highway Men series was a rollercoaster of a ride. From the first page we a plunged back into the dark and gritty MC world. While this book is not a true continuation of the first, they definitely need to be read in order to keep up with the flow of the story. Harlow is desperately trying to turn her life around and unfortunately the only person that she can turn to is Dom, the man who completely destroyed her. He truly loves Harlow, but he cannot be the man she needs him to be. When she meets Casa there is instant chemistry, but even though Dom doesn’t want her in that way he won’t allow Casa to have her either. Harlow quickly comes to realize that she can only depend on herself, and her heart just may not survive either of these men.
This story is so multi- dimensional. The relationships are all intertwined and so complicated, yet even separately they could have each been their own book. It’s not a love triangle in the traditional sense, it is much more. There is a push and pull between all of them, but Dom is also fighting his own battle unbeknownst to anyone. His secret would destroy him, as well as the club.I liked getting his point of view and seeing his vulnerable side in contrast with his rough biker exterior. Their is so much angst, drama, heartache and even a little humor in this story, I honestly loved every minute of it. The intensity of love stories mixed with the action of the MC fight is explosive. I was sucked in from the first page and it honestly plays out like an intense movie. I also enjoyed getting to see bits of Laney and Jess and others from the first book. I am loving this MC series and absolutely can’t wait for the third installment.
4 stars and whiskey straight from the bottle! Enjoy!
