The New York Times bestselling author of Reaper’s Stand is back in her “uber-alpha rough world of MCs”* as one woman’s future is rocked by the man whose hardcore past could destroy her…

He never meant to hurt her.

Levi “Painter” Brooks was nothing before he joined the Reapers motorcycle club. The day he patched in, they became his brothers and his life. All they asked in return was a strong arm and unconditional loyalty—a loyalty that’s tested when he’s caught and sentenced to prison for a crime committed on their behalf.

Melanie Tucker may have had a rough start, but along the way she’s learned to fight for her future. She’s escaped from hell and started a new life, yet every night she dreams of a biker whose touch she can’t forget. It all started out so innocently—just a series of letters to a lonely man in prison. Friendly. Harmless. Safe.

Now Painter Brooks is coming home… and Melanie’s about to learn that there’s no room for innocence in the Reapers MC.

“Are you ever going to forgive me?” he asked softly, catching my chin, forcing me to look at him. “Sometimes it feels like you hate me out of habit … Why does it always have to be a fight, Mel?”

Holy Hot Biker, Batman! I loved this freaking book! Joanna Wylde cannot do wrong. And FINALLY we get Painter’s story. Truly, I wasn’t sure how she was going to deliver Painter to us. He wasn’t always painted in the best light in earlier books. (See what I did there? 😉 ) Anyway… I was concerned, but I should have known better. #InJoannaWeTrust

So we get the usual MC fun in this book. Painter screws up a few times. Melanie annoyed me a few times. And I laughed my assed off. The best part of this world that Wylde has created is that you know everyone. Every character is familiar. I open the book and I am instantly back in their world like I’m one of them.

Melanie and Painter had a much more complicated relationship than we have seen before. There were many factors for each of them to consider. As much as I wanted to be annoyed with Melanie, I completely understood where she was coming from. Even Painter’s behavior was understandable. It was complicated and the bottom line was that they were in love, no matter how much they wanted to deny it. That much passion makes anyone a little crazy.

Painter’s story was completely worth the wait! I highly recommend this series. It only gets better with every book.

4 stars and pair it with a Blue Motorcycle
