“Nothing in my life has ever felt so good, yet hurt so achingly bad”
I have to admit that this was my first time reading a CH book. I recently had the pleasure of meeting her at a book signing and I purchased Maybe Someday to have it signed. I bought it without reading the back cover so when I started reading I had no idea what the story was even about. I was hooked from page 1. This story is so unlike any NA that I have ever read. Truly have no other book to even closely compare it to. The characters were so real and honest. This is the kind of stuff that happens to real people. The dialogue, the interaction, the relationships, everything was so real. The emotions and feelings that came with reading this story were almost too much sometimes but I had to keep reading! Her writing style draws you in and doesn’t let go.
I never do spoilers and I don’t want to give too much of the story away but I will give a brief synopsis. The story begins with Sydney, who has just left a relationship on extremely bad terms. With no where to turn, she is forced to seek refuge from Ridge, her neighbor who she knows absolutely nothing about. Their relationship builds quickly but things also get complicated just as fast. I will give a warning that there is a bit of love triangle here. However it is not a typical one. There is no bad guy here. There is no right or wrong answer. No one clear side that you are rooting for. Again, I promise that this story is nothing like anything you have ever read before.
I am convinced with just having read this one novel that Colleen Hoover is an evil master of playing with your emotions. I laughed, I cried, I held my breath for longer than is humanly possible. I cannot say enough good things about this book. And the end, OMG!! Probably the best final chapter of a book I have read in a long time. It will give you all the feels. I literally had tears streaming down my face. I had to wait days before I could read anything else. The book hangover was real. I did, however, immediately hand this book off to a friend and insist that they read it.
5 Stars and whiskey straight! Enjoy!
