It is hard not to fall in love with the Whitman Brothers. I love how they were brought together to make a family. How did you get the idea for their backstory?

I got this idea a couple years ago because family to me is the people you love the most. So I daydream a lot and began thinking of these boys who had no one else but each other, and how amazing it would be if they found a great home, and I sat down and wrote the prologue. So then when I spoke to my editor, Abby last year and she told me what they wanted was a spin-off of the Andersons, this was the story I wanted to finally write. I’ve enjoyed this new family so much.

What is your favorite part of this book?

The almost sex on the plane. I loved, loved, loved writing that scene. I’ve always thought it would be so dang hot to make love in a huge plane. But in real life I would be far too chicken to try it. Now, doing a little hanky panky on the other hand….. 🙂

What can we expect from the Whitman boys in the future?

Well, if anyone knows any of my books, they know that my men tend to be…hmm…less than receptive to falling in love at first, but when they do, there isn’t anything they won’t do for the women they love. I’ve had fun with the other books in this series. My favorite story is probably the last one, Her Forever Hero, because Grace and Cam, the stars of that book, make cameo appearances throughout Unexpected and Hometown Hero. So I think the fans will be very ready to read their story. Plus, Grace is a bit sassier and I just love her.

Are there people in your life who have popped up in your books as characters?

More than one time! I have a story about a trip to Canada and clubbing that my bff Steph and I took together. I have many different electrical scenes that really happened with my good friend, Chris who is the sexiest electrician I’ve ever met. There are flying scenes which really happened because my daughter is now a pilot, as well as several people I’m close to. A friend took me up in my daughter’s Cesna 172, which is only a 4-seater, and I wrote a scene about my heroine deathly afraid of flying, and the fear she felt was nearly paralyzing. That was exactly how I felt. I couldn’t breathe, I was so scared. My face was tingling and there was no color left, and then once we were up there, it was spectacular, an unbelievable high. I love trying new things and writing about them. Sadly, the sex scene on the small aircraft was pure imagination. Maybe I should talk my husband into becoming a pilot and then buy a plane with autopilot, though… 🙂

You have written so many books. Which authors have inspired you? And what advice you give aspiring authors?

I always dread this question, because there are so many fantastic writers out there and I can’t name them all. When I was young, my favorite authors were Nora Robers, V.C. Andrews, Sandra Marton, and Stephen King. Now, I’ve met so many fantastic women who inspire me daily. I’ve had fangirl moments where I’ve just prayed I won’t stutter around these powerful, inspiring people. And I’ve become best friends with people I once worshipped.

The biggest piece of advice I can offer, is to not be afraid. I was so scared, and then I realized that we are all nerds. We all love to live in this crazy, fantasy world, where we are shocked when the fantasy isn’t real. If we don’t like how something has turned out, we just rewrite it in our heads. And to this day, I haven’t met one author who wants to step on the back of another to succeed. This world is full of support and love, and it’s been worth the sleepless nights, and the lack of a social life for 2 years straight because I couldn’t tear myself from my computer. I have a bit more balance now, but this is the greatest job you could ever have. Beware though, because once you start, you will never be able to do anything else.

Can your fans expect to see you on tour this year?

Most definitely. I forget sometimes about the magic of it all. I always appreciate it, but when you are locked to your computer 7 days a week, you forget there’s a world out there. Going to conferences, book signings, and events reminds me why I lock down for 9 months of the year. I don’t know how I got where I’ve gotten. I don’t know how ME, a girl who grew up in a tiny town with my dad with no money, can now have people reading my books from all around the world. I sometimes have a hard time holding myself together when someone comes up to me and tells me how much they love my books. It’s humbling and amazing, and indescribable. I want to go everywhere. When I first walked into Barnes and Noble and saw “Baby It’s Cold Outside” sitting on the bookshelf with my name on it, I did cry. So, I will go wherever people want me to go 🙂

Would you recognize true love if it sat down next to you? In this unforgettable new spinoff of the Billionaire books from New York Times bestselling indie author Melody Anne, two strangers must look past their painful memories to make way for everlasting love.

Alyssa’s modeling career came to an abrupt end when her manager boyfriend emptied her bank account and ruined her professional reputation. Now she’s heading to a new town in Montana to rebuild her life—if she can even get there (stupid delayed planes!). Jackson Whitman doesn’t believe in love, or commitment, or forever—not since he lost his wife and daughter. But the beautiful woman sitting next to him at the gate has him rethinking that position. Can he convince her to be his for the night? Or will she convince him to be hers for a lifetime?
