Perry Palomino has fought her demons – and won – but the battle is far from over. She’s now left broken and on her own, leaving behind her life and family in Portland to focus on giving Dex Foray – and the Experiment in Terror show – a second chance. But their past mistakes continue to tease and test their relationship, as does the wild and desolate terrain of the Canadian Rockies.

The snow-covered peaks and ravenous forests hide an urban legend too unbelievably frightening to be true and the only way the duo has a chance of surviving is if Perry can let in the very man who sent her to hell and back.

Rated 16+ for language, gore and sexual content

“You are always a part of me Dex. You’re every part of me. Always have been. Always will be.”

I cannot say enough about this series! I say it over and over, these books are fantastic! I love EIT!

In this story, Perry and Dex are back after Perry has fought her demons and Dex has come to carry her back into the light. And speaking of light… Well, we will get there.

There are many layers to this book. Let’s break it down.

Perry made a lot of unsettling discoveries in the last book which lead her to the obvious decision that she needs to move out of her parents’ home. With little options, she is now living with Dex. This is scary and wonderful… for both of them. They have a lot to sort through and this is not easy. Once in Seattle, Perry is determined to start living her new life and finding her own home. When Jimmy offers her an EIT job hunting “Sasquatch” it’s a no-brainer. After all, Sasquatch isn’t real, right? Easy money, baby… One thing that Jimmy does throw in to sweeten the deal for Perry is that she can be the camerawoman and Dex can host for a change. Perry loves this idea of role reversal and jumps on it. And of course, living together allows for fun Dex & Perry flirting…

“Who is it?” I asked teasingly
“Bigfoot,” Dex answered from his room.
“What do you want, Mr Foot?”
“Please, just call me Big.”
I snorted. “You wish.”
“You know.”

While living together and investigating the elusive monster, Dex starts to show that he has turned a new leaf. Our Dex sure has changed since we saw him last! Both physically, (Wowza!) and otherwise. He is stronger, wiser and more honest. He is being the man that Perry needs him to be. And man, do I love the Dex we get in this book! We also get a bit more of his haunts and a peek into some things to come for our Dex in upcoming books. He is struggling and will need Perry, but this time, he isn’t afraid to admit it. I loved seeing him showing glimpses of vulnerability. But he was badass as they come when it came to fighting monsters.

“I was trying to be a better man, Perry. For you.” I shifted in my seat. “Dex…” “And I’ll keep trying,” he quickly said, voice low and somber. “Until I get it right.”

So let’s talk monsters.

Holy shit. This was scary. I didn’t think it would be. I just didn’t. I wasn’t impressed with the idea when I read it, but it more than exceeded my expectations. I was terrified. I was questioning everything! I wanted to know what was going to happen. I couldn’t put the book down for fear of Perry and Dex’s fate. My heart lurched out of my chest as Dex and Perry fought for survival… and each other.

Then there was love. Or Dex & Perry love. Cuz really, they have their own brand.

Like I mentioned before, Dex is a new man. He worked hard on himself while they were separated. He made changes, a lot of changes. He changed his diet, his health routines and his attitude. He made the decision to be the man that Perry deserved. It is HOT. Perry is trying like to hell to forgive. She wants him. She knows she does. She is also scared. ,The revelations that come to light are spectacular in this book! Everything you have been waiting for happens!!!! I won’t give you any spoilers, but I will tell you that I was floored to get so much in one story. I felt like I was left raw and exposed at the end, just like they were.

“This is me trying, Perry,” he said softly, the anger being drained of his face. “This is me taking my heart out of my chest and putting the bloody mess in your hands. I can’t give you much more than that.”

When I reached the last page, I actually flipped my Kindle over looking for more. Then, I accidentally bought the next book and immediately started reading. I had to. I there was no cliffy, but I needed more. I needed a balm for that open wound of emotion the book left across my soul. Then I found whiskey.

5+ Stars and a lot of top shelf whiskey!!!
