Fractions of seconds can do lots of damage. One decision can ruin lives. A blink can be tragic. And loving a Hollister…can hurt like hell.

I would know.

They say the average person can hold their breath under water for two full minutes when pushed to the extremes. Will Hollister has been holding his for years. The oldest of two elite swimming brothers, Will was always a dominant force in the water. But in life, he preferred to let his younger brother Evan be the one to shine.

Evan got the girl, and Will…he got to bury all of the secrets. A brother’s burden, the weight of it all nearly left him to drown.

The daughter of two Olympians, my path was set the day my fingertips first touched water. My future was as crystal clear as the lane I dominated in the pool—swim hard, win big, love a Hollister.

My life with Evan burned bright. He gave me arms to come home to, and a smile that fooled the world into believing everything was perfect. But it was Will who pushed me. Will…who really knew me.

And when all of the pieces fell, it was Will who started to pick them up.

In the end, the only thing that matters are those few precious seconds—and what we decide to do while we still have them in our grasp.

Every time I read a Ginger Scott book, I immediately think that’s it, that’s my favorite book of hers. And then she writes another book. All of her stories feel so real and raw and authentic. She makes you feel invested in her characters as if they were your own friends.

Hold My Breath is no different. Will Hollister’s story is not only a story of loss and devastation, but also a story of determination and redemption. He is by far one of the most admirable characters I have read this year. His devotion to do right by the people around him is astounding, even if it means sacrificing his own happiness.  Where any other man would have been broken and given up, Will just found more motivation to keep going.

I loved Maddy as well. Her story is equally as heartbreaking as Will’s. She is also just as determined to do the right thing. They both are so guarded due to how much heartbreak life has already dealt them. I absolutely loved seeing them dance around their want and need for each other.

Scott is the master of building tension and making it incredibly sweet at the same time. This story will make your heart ache, make you cry, laugh, and be so incredibly happy all at the same time. If this author is not already on your list of one-clicks, she absolutely should be!

5 amazing stars! Enjoy!
