After being caught in the middle of a love triangle that led to a devastating betrayal, Kiera pledged to learn from the mistakes she'd made. She was determined to never again inflict that kind of pain on anyone, especially the soulful, talented man who held her heart. But life offers new challenges for every relationship, and when Kiera's love is put to the ultimate test, will it survive? Love is easy, trust is hard.

“Loving you Kellan is so easy, it’s effortless. Trusting you…that’s the hard part”

I have to admit that after I read Thoughtless I was an emotional wreck. That’s probably why I took a month hiatus before starting Effortless. I was dying to know what would happen to Kellan and Kiera, but I just needed a breather. I was a little concerned that the story would be boring or repetitive of the last book. What could possibly happen now that could make this story better?

Effortless did not disappoint.

The story picks up where it left off with Kellan and Kiera in the bliss of their new relationship. Everything is great, until Kellan’s band gets major notice they are offered a national tour. Kiera has trust and jealousy issues when Kellan is standing in front of her. How will she possibly be able to handle him being on the road and out of sight for six months? Kellan feels awful about leaving her. Kiera doesn’t do well alone and he is painfully aware Denny leaving the state for work led Kiera to him. Will she doe the same now that Kellan is leaving? Will there ever be any real trust between them knowing how their relationship started?

I didn’t think it would be possible but I think I liked Effortless more than Thoughtless. Kiera has definitely matured and is not so whiney or wishy-washy. She knows who she is and what she wants now. Kellan opens up more and is not hurtful or mean to Kiera like he was before. The real problem is that their relationship started out on lies and deception so the trust level is just not there. If she will cheat with you, she will cheat on you. That is Kellan’s fear. Kiera is afraid that Kellan will return to his man-whore ways. Is she really that special that he will be able to turn down every offer he gets from women? She certainly doesn’t think so. There are other secrets and misunderstandings that come into play, but I will let you get to those on your own.

“I know that I have to be with you. Everything else is just details”

The anxiety level was slightly less in this book than the first, (which is good because it was almost unbearable in Thoughtless.) Though, I was still dying to know what was going to happen. Would he cheat on her? Would her friendly relationship with Denny become a problem? Would they be able to make it? These are real problems that a lot of couples face on a daily basis and they were dealt with in an honest way. Most of these were answered in the end. Great follow up novel, sometimes these stories can lose their stride after the first book, but I think we are just getting to the good stuff. I cannot wait to read Reckless!

5 stars and bottle of Absolut vodka! Enjoy
