Gideon calls me his angel, but he's the miracle in my life. My gorgeous, wounded warrior, so determined to slay my demons while refusing to face his own.

The vows we'd exchanged should have bound us tighter than blood and flesh. Instead they opened old wounds, exposed pain and insecurities, and lured bitter enemies out of the shadows. I felt him slipping from my grasp, my greatest fears becoming my reality, my love tested in ways I wasn't sure I was strong enough to bear.

At the brightest time in our lives, the darkness of his past encroached and threatened everything we'd worked so hard for. We faced a terrible choice: the familiar safety of the lives we'd had before each other or the fight for a future that suddenly seemed an impossible and hopeless dream...

Captivated By You (Crossfire, Book 4)

“Did we choose love, or did we choose ourselves?”

It does feel like we waited forever and a day for the fourth book in the Crossfire series. But I would be willing to wait forever and two days for Gideon Cross. He is far and away my favorite book boyfriend. The heat and intensity that were present in the first three books is just as hot in this one. Eva and Gideon have a relationship like no other. And the sex, OMG! I’m sorry but it just never gets old with these two.

As far as plot movement, this was probably the slower moving book in the series. I did feel that although nothing major occurred, there were tons of small important things that happened. There was a lot of things that seem to be build up for the fifth and final installment. Sometimes this slow build is essential for the final pay off.   We also got some of Gideons POV which I feel was very important and helpful to get an insight into what makes him tick. His character gets so much more depth and Eva’s love and attraction to him is so much more understood because of this.

“My wife would fight the world for me. It was miraculous to know that. When no one else had fought for me, I’d somehow found the one soul who would.”

Their love is hard fought and hard won. They are both such strong personalities, and there are so many outside forces working against them. What I love about them is that no matter how mad they are and no matter how bad things get, they are not for one second willing to give up. They are so passionate for each other that the thought of ending things never crosses their minds. I would read as many books in this series as Sylvia Day would be willing to write.

4.5 stars and a bottle of Domain! Enjoy!
