I’ve always been good at wearing masks. Not letting anyone see the real me. I’m content being the happy-go-lucky best friend. The strong willed boss. The independent woman who doesn’t need a man.

But the truth is I’m just as broken as the rest of you. I’m terrified that all it will take is one person to make all my carefully constructed walls crumble into fine dust. So I guard my heart with everything I have. Determined to never let anyone get close enough to hurt me again.

All is perfect until HE walks into my life. No… he doesn’t just walk. He struts his good-looking, sex-oozing self right into my space and demands that I see HIM. Making me want what I know I can’t have.

So I did the only thing I know how to do.
I run.
But he just won’t let me go.

The second I see her, I know she will be mine. I see past the gorgeous smiles and heart-stopping laughter. I see HER. She doesn’t want me to know her secrets or the past that haunts her, but I make it my mission to find out.

To make her mine.

She can run all she wants, but it will never be far enough to stop me from coming after her.
She’s it for me and she knows it.
She’s just too scared to admit it.

**NO cliffhanger, HEA, inter-connected standalones**

“When you love someone, you fight. You fight for them, and you fight with them. She needed me to fight for her then, and I’ll continue to do that until she can fight for herself again.”

I love me some Sloan Harper, but this was not my favorite in the series. Still, a not great in this series is better than most!

I found the first half to be a bit slow. Don’t get me wrong, I love this group of friends so reading any book in this series is like visiting old friends, but I still read this series for the action and badassery. I had to wait a while for the badassery. I wasn’t feeling patient. Maybe it was just me.

“Just because you let someone in doesn’t mean you have to stop protecting yourself. It just means you have someone to share the job with.”

It was a well written book. Everything was right, but it was just lacking the fun and excitement that Axel and Cage had. There some sweet moments and I smiled a lot. These books always make me laugh. And i do love how their family is growing and we get to witness that in each book. I love the community building in each story. But I was just not as invested in Beck’s story as I was the others.

I will continue to read the rest of the series. I love these guys and I love Harper Sloan’s writing style. I am really looking forward to reading about the rest of the guys. These books always have great humor and wittiness. I think my favorite thing about this series is the camaraderie between the men. They are truly brothers and it is a fun twist to have that in the series rather than always reading about a pack of girls holding the guys together.

“The day your drunk ass went on and on about how chocolate is better than sex, you had me hooked. ”

3 Stars for Beck and pair it with an ice cold draft.
