Yep. I loved it. I know that this was one of those books where there seemed to be only two side: Love it or Hate it. I loved it. The characters were well developed and interesting. The world building made sense and was accurate. And the writing was great. So let’s break it down a bit.
“If only he would keep his mouth shut, he’d be perfect. A piece of duct tape would do the trick. I had some in my desk that I’d occasionally pull out and fondle, hoping someday I could put it to good use.”
I was completely attracted to Bennett despite his arsehole tendencies. He was rude, arrogant and downright ugly at times and I loved him. Chloe was spunky and smart. I always appreciate that in a heroine. Together they were HOT. There was a lot of give and pull in their relationship. It made perfect sense to me why Chloe was resistant to Bennett and even why Bennett was the way he was. We all have to grow and learn, right? I couldn’t help but love Bennett. He seriously cracked me up. And he was broodingly sexy. It was wrong. Wrong and bad. Wrong, bad, and naughty… no wait, that comes later. Sigh…
“For some sick reason, fighting with this woman always ended with her panties in my pocket.”
I really identified with Chloe and her drive. She worked so hard and she had every right to be terrified of not getting what she dreamed of… and getting it on her own merit. She was fun and motivated. I connected with everyone in the book and it didn’t take long to do that. I was thrilled when I heard that they made this into a series because I was just as in love with the secondary characters as I was our hero and heroine. This was just one of those books where you felt right at home with the group.
I have a thing for office/business romances. I like when a book incorporates the business into the story. This book had enough of that to balance all the romance. And wowie what was there a lot of romance! (And by romance, I mean sex. So much sex. Dirty, dirty sex.) This was a really good book. But seriously, there was a TON of sex. Uber amounts of much sex. And frankly, it was really well written. (Choreographed?) Whatever you want to call, it was well done. Fifty who? Between that and the banter, this was a winner for sure.
“The look in her eyes told me that under any other circumstances, I would either already be naked with her on top of me, or lying in a pool of my own blood on the rug.”
The writing was fantastic. I give props to the writing team that is Christina Lauren. They did a great job. I am always curious as to how writing teams make it work and these two make it look easy. The writing was seamless. It was full of humor and intensity. This was a quick, fun read. I would read it again. And I would definitely recommend it to a friend.
I give this sexy office romance 5 stars and pair it with Johnnie Walker Blue.
