A fortuitous encounter.

A meeting that should never have happened.

Many years ago, two children from completely different worlds forged a connection, a fateful connection, an unbreakable bond that would change their lives forever…

Salome knows only one way to live—under Prophet David’s rule. In the commune she calls home, Salome knows nothing of life beyond her strict faith, nor of life beyond the Fence—the fence that cages her, keeps her trapped in an endless cycle of misery. A life she believes she is destined to always lead, until a horrific event sets her free.

Fleeing the absolute safety of all she has ever known, Salome is thrust into the world outside, a frightening world full of uncertainty and sin; into the protective arms of a person she believed she would never see again.

River ‘Styx’ Nash knows one thing for certain in life—he was born and bred to wear a cut. Raised in a turbulent world of sex, Harleys, and drugs, Styx, unexpectedly has the heavy burden of the Hades Hangmen gavel thrust upon him, and all at the ripe old age of twenty-six—much to his rivals’ delight.

Haunted by a crushing speech impediment, Styx quickly learns to deal with his haters. Powerful fists, an iron jaw and the skillful use of his treasured German blade has earned him a fearsome reputation as a man not to be messed with in the shadowy world of outlaw MC’s. A reputation that successfully keeps most people far, far away.

Styx has one rule in life—never let anyone get too close. It’s a plan that he has stuck to for years, that is, until a young woman is found injured on his lot… a woman who looks uncannily familiar, a woman who clearly does not belong in his world, yet a woman he feels reluctant to let go…

Contemporary Romance/New Adult Novel.

”You are free…

One word describes this story: EPIC.

This book possessed the magic trifecta that makes an epic story. Man vs. Man, Man vs. Himself and Man vs. Society. They were all in there and it made for one hell of a ride!

My heart pounds in my chest whenever I think of this book.
When Mae flees her cult and the only world she knows, she stubbles into the world of Styx and his MC. You would think that would be the story and it would be a great story all on its own, but Tillie Cole created so much more for us. It was like reading a movie.

”I could do stronger.”

Mae’s character was so strong. So capable. So beyond anything I have ever read in a heroine before. To leave that world was courage enough, but she accomplished so much more. She endured horrible atrocities while living under the Profit’s rule and she would not let that happen to her again. What made this part of the book great was that the progression of her character was so natural and realistic considering her circumstances. The background for her life was gradually released as the pages turned. She was understandably slow in offering any information about herself to the outside world.

”You are my biggest temptation, Styx, my personal forbidden fruit. But I want you regardless of if it is deemed wrong or immoral.”

And Styx? LOVED HIM! ”Pure rugged male perfection; so dangerous to the touch.” I loved that he struggled physically in a word where it wasn’t safe for him to reveal weakness. I love that he reigned in that world. He was a very strong character as well. Like Mae, he was strong because he was a survivor. He never let anyone get close, but he and Mae had a special connection that was impossible to ignore. He was a flawed character, but he was a mensch in every possible way. He truly stepped up to the plate and showed courage when he was in his darkest moments. Reading about him, you just knew that his arms were the safest place in the world.

”Mae… You need a b-better man. It ain’t me, babe, no matter how much you th-think it is… or want it to be.”

As a couple, they were wonderful and awkward and everything a pair like this should be! I was cheering for them, yelling at them and jumping up and down as they took one step forward and two steps back. What made them really great was that for all of their issues, they were fairly functional together. They had a lot of obstacles to overcome, but they continued to care about one another and support each other regardless of the condition of their relationship. And the love scenes… yowza!

”Sinning never felt so good.”

What made this story exceptional was the connection to mythology and Cole’s understanding and explanation of the ancient beliefs. It was brilliant and added an unexpected depth to the story. There was plenty of action and suspense in this book. You cannot mix a cult, an MC, and ancient mythological beliefs and not have a great battle!

”We were always fated to be together. He is my everything. He is my entire world… …Styx is my salvation.

Finally there was the rest of the MC. Like any great MC story, there is always a great deal of background and a ton of characters to juggle. Cole gave us all of the background in the beginning of the book and then fed us the rest of the characters as the story moved along. I slowly fell in love with each crazy and harden biker.

I loved this book to the point of sadness when it ended. I want the next book like yesterday! I salute Tillie Cole and this MC masterpiece she created. Clever, sexy and full of danger and mystique.

”I had never felt so alive, so free…”

5 MASSIVE STARS! Bikers, cults and danger around every corner! This is not your typical MC story! Grab a six pack of your favorite wine coolers and plan to spend the rest of the day reading!
