After the Break Book Cover After the Break
Andrea Joan

Ten years I trained to be the best boxer there is. I had fighters blood pumping through my veins and I was a lethal opponent. One to be feared. Twelve years I spent with my first love, we were childhood sweethearts and I was ready to make her my wife. My brother would have been my best man, his wife would have been her maid of honor.
11 minutes 13 seconds.
That was all the time it took to rip my world apart.

I. Am. Broken.

And not the kind of broken that can be fixed. Ever. I will always be imprisoned in a darkness I can never fully escape from. Infected with a disease that can never be cured.
Every day I struggle to survive. I've not felt alive until now.
Until her.
Skylar Barrett.
She is an actress, a millionaire, every man’s wet dream. On the surface she has everything; wants for nothing. But I see what lies beneath her facade. She walks a fine line between the dark and the light. She’s a sinner and a savior. And she has chosen me. She needs my protection and I. Need. Her.
I know I can protect her.
I know I can destroy her.
She is my redemption. My destruction.
But she is mine.
Even if it ruins us both.

I’m not even sure where to start with this book. I was completely blown away. I knew it was gonna be good from the start, but it wasn’t just good it was absolutely amazing. Liam is the perfect mix of Alpha male and broken boy. His story is heartbreaking and it is revealed to us slowly at just the right times. The best part is that he knows he’s a complete mess and he is actively trying to be a better man. Skylar’s life seems perfect on the outside, but she too is just as messed up as Liam. She is fighting her own battles while trying to convey perfect movie star to the world. When the two of them come together the attraction is immediate. You instantly know that they will either ruin each other completely or make each other better than they ever thought they could be.
I loved that this story was not about two people saving each other but more about them saving themselves for the sake of each other. They both had walls to break down, and hard truths to accept. Their love story is not easy. It’s actually painful and gut wrenching while at the same time beautiful. I cried with these characters and laughed with them at times as well. The writing is amazing, and the story flows flawlessly. There was just the right amount of heat, drama and laughs to keep you reading into the wee hours of the morning. The ending is perfect, but it still left me wanting more. I wasn’t ready to say goodbye to Liam or Skylar. I also loved many of the side characters and found myself wondering if any of them would be getting their own story. Seeing as this is a debut author, this book was fantastic on all levels, I cannot wait to see what she has in store for us in the coming years.

The indie world needs to buckle up because Andrea Joan is coming in to take over!

5 stars and a bottle of your favorite whiskey! Enjoy!
