A Love Letter to Whiskey

It’s crazy how fast the buzz comes back after you’ve been sober for so long.

Whiskey stood there, on my doorstep, just like he had one year before. Except this time, there was no rain, no anger, no wedding invitation — it was just us.

It was just him — the old friend, the easy smile, the twisted solace wrapped in a glittering bottle.

It was just me — the alcoholic, pretending like I didn’t want to taste him, realizing too quickly that months of being clean didn’t make me crave him any less.

But we can’t start here.

No, to tell this story right, we need to go back.

Back to the beginning.

Back to the very first drop.

This is my love letter to Whiskey. I only hope he reads it

This book was by far one of the best books of 2016. I can’t remember having such an emotional reaction to any other book I’ve read in the recent past. My heart was physically aching throughout this story. Not since Thoughtless have I read something so full of raw angst and longing. The story lines are completely different, but the feelings are just as raw. B and Jamie are two of my favorite book characters ever. The author had a way of making you feel every single emotion the characters feel. The story spans over a decade of them weaving in and out of each others lives, sometimes as friends, sometimes as much more.   Sometimes it is personal choices that tear them apart and sometimes it is just the circumstances of life. Either way there is no denying the importance they have in each others lives and no denying their feelings. I was so absorbed by this book that I had a really hard time starting anything else when I finished. Major book hangover! Jamie is definitely worthy of a spot on any top book boyfriend list. He is not afraid to express his feelings, even when he knows he is only going to end up hurt.  B is a great female lead and has some unique qualities to her, while at the same time being relatable to any girl who has ever fallen for the wrong boy.  I have not read any of this authors other work, but I definitely will now. I am excited to see what else she has in store for us. 5 stars and a bottle of your favorite whiskey! Enjoy!
