“If I’m yours, and you’re mine…. then I’ll take you, wherever and whenever I can.”
Thoughtless is a gut wrenching story of a classic love triangle. Kiera leaves behind her family and everything she knows for her boyfriend Denny and his job opportunity on the other side of the country. They move in with his friend Kellan who of course is gorgeous and has a way of charming women. Obviously this is going to become a problem. When Denny is called out of town for work, Kiera is left alone with no friends in an unfamiliar city. The only person she really has to turn to is Kellan. There are lots of familiar love triangle scenarios that come into play in this book but the hardest part about everything is that it is not purely a physical connection between the two forbidden lovers.
I cannot say that I loved everything about this book. The first 100 pages seemed to really drag for me. However once the story really got going, I was hooked. There were some parts that were so intense with suspense I could barely stand it. Lots of shots of tequila are recommended here. Will they get caught? Who will she choose? Even if she chooses, will that one really want her? I was a wreck by the time I finished this story. I will not say who I wanted her to end up with or who she does in fact end up with, that would ruin all the fun.
I have read a lot of reviews saying that Kiera is annoying. While I cannot entirely disagree with that I can’t fully agree either. Obviously she is not going to choose one or the other right away, the story would be over. There is a lot of back and forth with her and what she wants to do, but I find this realistic. What girl wouldn’t want the best of both worlds? Denny is sweet and caring and safe. Kellan is caring too, but he is also a bad boy, and a singer and brings an element of excitement with him. I think also that this is an eye opener as to how badly things can go by being involved with two people at once. Not just one person is going to get hurt, everyone is going to get hurt. (Insert more tequila shots)
For this book I am also recommending an album to listen to. There is a heavy music element in this book as Kellan is in a band. 10 Years The Autumn Effect is a
perfect companion for this book. I listened to it repeatedly while reading Thoughtless. Especially towards the last third of the book. It could not have been more perfect for what was going on.
I enjoyed the second half much more and can’t wait to read Effortless. I have to take a break from this story though as I was an emotional train wreck by the end. (More tequila)
3 ½ stars, a bottle of tequila and some 10 Years (or whatever speaks to you when you’re heartbroken and torn) Enjoy!
